If you’re familiar with farm life, you’ve probably heard the term “chicken math.”
We’re no exception to this phenomenon.
What started as three Rhode Island Reds in our backyard—a 2020 quarantine project—did not take long to turn into something bigger.
Like, 1,200 pounds bigger. (Looking at you, Lily.)
By 2021, we'd collected enough critters that we could call ourselves a farm. Cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, and more—animals that have shaped the way we live and what we value. We’ll be the first to admit we’re still learning as we go and the only thing "offiical" about us is this website, but our focus has always been the same:
Dedication to providing a safe and loving home, especially for those who have been overlooked elsewhere.
It’s rewarding, messy, exhausting—but never dull.
We wouldn’t trade it for the world.
A single Muscovy duckling—the only one to hatch from our first clutch of fertile eggs—arrived with splayed legs that needed splints and a fearless, adventurous spirit. Naturally, she was named after the little dinosaur we all remember from The Land Before Time.
She spent just 35 days with us, but in that short time, she reminded us exactly why we do what we do—and she still inspires us today.
We’d always struggled to choose an official name for the farm, but when her life was cut tragically short, it became clear that the best way to honor both the bond we shared and our love for the farm was to carry her name forward.
